BURST PIPES
First thing's first, don't panic! Start by turning off the mains water supply at the stop valves and open all cold water taps so that the pipework and storage system drains quickly. Turn off your central heating system and switch off any electric immersion heaters then call us ASAP on 07973 123 296.

FROZEN PIPES
If a pipe freezes turn off the mains water supply at the stop valve. If the pipe hasn't burst try to thaw it out using hot water bottles or a hair dryer starting at the end nearest the tap. Do not try to thaw it too quickly as any splits in the pipe may not be immediately noticeable. If any part of the hot water system is frozen turn off the boiler immediately and call us on 07973 123 296.

GAS LEAKS
Gas leaks are extremely dangerous and initially are best handled by Transco. If you smell gas you must put out all naked flames and never turn on or off any electrical switches. Turn of the gas meter at the control valve, open all windows and doors and immediately call Transco's free emergency 24-hour hotline on 0800 111 999. Once the leak has been dealt with Transco engineers will tell you of the problem so that you can call our experienced engineers to come and fix the fault.
